Where I Find Joy
Greetings from Grace.
My award winning poem:
Where I Find Joy
When seasons come and seasons go,
I live where there are four you know.
The buds in spring, the summer's sun,
Autumn's colours and winter's fun.
Walking on the land in Haliburton,
Memories there are sweet for certain.
Talking with friends, acquaintances and cousins,
From firsts to fifths I have dozens.
My cats at play around the house,
Chasing their food like 'twas a mouse.
Sitting quietly and petting their fur,
Listening to their contented purr.
Knowing my man is safe here at home,
Sharing his dreams, his ideals and his comb.
Having a husband of character and worth,
And helping people on a site called AskEarth.
What in life could bring more joy,
Than thinking of our baby boy?
He's growing fast; he's past us all,
As he is now over six feet tall.
Our second child, a girl, brings joy,
To friends, our family, our boy.
A princess to her father's heart,
A sleeping angel, a child of art.
My children playing their piano well,
Getting good grades and an argument's quell.
My children jumping and laughing and playing,
And when I hear my children praying.
The children of my Grade two class,
The boisterous boy, the shy dear lass.
Teaching them through story and song,
Seeing how far they've come along.
When I review the lesson taught,
And know it's meaning has been caught.
When a student hides God's Word in their heart,
So I know from their minds it never will part.
Knowing I'll see my loved ones in Heaven,
My uncle, my aunt, the child of eleven.
My sister, my father, my grandma, my cousin,
My grandpa, my great-aunt and friends by the dozen.
When at church we're congregational singing,
Or when I hear the church bells ringing.
The mixed octet, the whole church choir,
The men's quintet sets my soul afire.
The Pastor preaching from the Word,
'Tis then I know God's voice I've heard.
For life is joy and joy spreads love,
When you know it comes from God above.

Personal Information (more than anyone would want to know) :)
I asked Jesus Christ into my life to be my friend, Savior and Lord when I was five years old. I started going to a Christian Girl's club when I was eight at a church on my street and then I attended that church from age 10 - 19, mostly with my family.
I went to a Christian camp a couple of times when I was a kid and a teen.
My Dad often punished me as a child with a strap. He had a chemical imbalance in his brain so I saw him beat my mother many times and attempt to choke my mother to death twice; once I intervened verbally and once my sister and I intervened. She intervened physically and was thrown against the wall. Later I saw him try to commit suicide; my Mom and I intervened. I ran over to my neighbor’s house but I was so traumatized I could not talk so I had to write.
I studied French, German and Latin at school as well as typing and business. I type quickly. I like to speak French and Spanish. I got the Campus Life club at our high school started through Youth For Christ and then I volunteered in the delinquent prevention division of Y.F.C.
My youngest sister was discovered to have Leukemia when I was 16 and I saw her die in the hospital when I was 19. I know that she went to Heaven because she asked Jesus Christ into her life and I saw her reach her arms out upon her death after being in a coma for three days.
I spent time in the summers with my Great Aunt on my mother's side who lived in a city and know a lot about our family history and lineage on that side. I also spent some time with a paternal Aunt in the country and love to walk outdoors on my grandfather’s land in the spring, summer and fall. That is where I can be still and know God whether it is in the woods or by the lake.
I went to Tyndale University College and Seminary http://www.tyndale.ca-- where I took Philosophy, Psychology, Counseling, Youth Ministry, Methods of Bible Study, Audio-Visuals, Camping Administration, Camp Programing and Wilderness Survival as well as Theology and in-depth studies of various books of the Bible including Genesis, Proverbs, John, Galatians and Revelation.
I got married four years after graduating from Tyndale. My husband and have been married for 25 years as of August 24th 2010.
I worked with emotionally disturbed boys in a group home, did a lot of office work in various offices through temporary agencies and worked as an Activity Co-ordinator (Event Co-ordinator) in a Senior's Complex.
I was discovered to be with Uterine Cancer in May 2006 and had it surgically removed in an operation on July 10/06. It was similar to a hysterectomy. I was fortunate enough to not need to have chemo or radiation. They tested for micro cancer cells. The test came back negative by August 15/06. I found out that I am healing well on August 30th. I took six weeks to recover but could move around pretty well after two. I am happy to say that I am now a Cancer Survivor. Praise the Lord!!!!
I fulfill the role of wife and mother of my two teens (one boy and one girl) I cook, clean, do laundry, dishes, chauffeur, grocery shop, put up Christmas decorations and take them down and clean up after the two cats.
I write, edit, do photography, create copperfoil stained glass, play piano and volunteer as a leader of Grade 5 & 6 girls in a club at my church. I encourage these girls, teens and others to educate themselves in their Christian faith through reading and experience so that they can answer anyone who asks about their faith in Jesus Christ and the Bible. My husband and I sponsor children in El Salvador through World Vision. I am also currently driving Senior ladies to their Senior church service and luncheon on Thursdays where I also stay for the service and the luncheon. Sometimes rather than a sermon we have a presentation of interest. We recently had a church member who presented their amazing bird photography along with educational information about each bird. Our appreciation for birds and wonder at God's creation was greatly increased.
I spend a lot of time online. I follow great mentors in business, internet information, social networking, leadership skills and Biblical spiritual matters. I encourage people and pray with them as their needs arise. I also promote a couple of businesses online and off and maintain groups about them.
I love Gospel, Gospel Quartets and Southern Gospel music.
I like Christian Fantasy and Science Fiction. I edited 12 Episodes in a book called The Quest: Alliance which was based on a Medieval Christian Fantasy book called The Quest. I wrote one of the Episodes. It has been published and copies can be specially ordered through me.
My quirks are that I like to drink herbal tea in bone china cups and sparkling white grape juice or ginger ale in pinwheel lead crystal goblets.
My goal is to be able to finish writing a book that I am working on and have it published and marketed.
